Empowering Futures: Our Mission and Vision
Our Vision
‘L’nu’egati’ or ‘Lnnu’egati‘
The spirit of our people as L’nu and how that extends and encompasses the land, waters, and all beings.
Our Mission
MTI works to advance our mission through trilateral negotiations and ensuring all information is considered when determining the potential impacts from any proposed projects in the territory of the Mi’gmaq. We will conduct assessments that will determine the level of consultation needed and completing the necessary reviews, such as impact assessments and Indigenous Knowledge Studies.
Respect
We honor the knowledge and traditions of Indigenous peoples, fostering mutual respect and understanding.
Empowerment
We empower communities to be self-sufficient, resilient, and culturally vibrant.
Inclusivity
We embrace diversity and inclusivity, fostering unity among Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities.
Partnerships
We build partnerships with government agencies, organizations, and companies.
Community Engagement
We engage with communities through outreach programs, events, and collaborative projects.
Economic Development
We facilitate economic opportunities, entrepreneurship, and job creation within Indigenous communities.
“I was proud and honoured to sit with the chiefs in that circle and see their strong commitment to our people. I look forward to great success as we take our rightful place in Canada and New Brunswick”
– Elder Gordon LaBillois
L’nuey Leadership: Protecting Our People and Implementing Our Rights
